The positions for President, Vice President, and 11 Senators in ASWSUV are up for election every academic year.
President
As head of ASWSUV’s executive branch, the President will:
- Oversee all ASWSUV programs and activities.
- Carry out ASWSUV policies.
- Advocate for student needs.
As needed, may also meet with University administrators, attend other faculty meetings, and develop proposals and comments on University policy.
Vice President
In collaboration with the president, the Vice President will:
- Chair ASWSUV Senate meetings.
- Perform any duty deemed necessary by ASWSUV Officers, Senate, Constitution or By-laws.
- Carry out duties of the President should the President be absent or unable to perform their duties.
Senator
Of 11 positions, Senators are expected to attend weekly meetings in which they will:
- Discuss pressing matters and vote on Bills (documents proposing legislative action).
- Join committees (small groups of Senators whose focus is on a particular topic).
